Dave Gunning joins Jubilee in January

The Jubilee in January has added an artist to the line up for its January 14th event at Glasgow Square; Dave Gunning will join The Stanfield’s, Alert the Medic and Fleur Mainville on stage for a night that is designed to celebrate the artists and acts that have grown from their Pictou County roots and are taking their music to the world.

“Dave Gunning could be referred to as the Godfather of the Pictou County music scene,” says Carlton Munroe, Executive Director of the New Glasgow Jubilee. “Just about everyone involved in the music industry in Pictou County has worked with Dave in one capacity or another and many success stories in the business that have come from here have really begun with Dave.”

In racking up his own accomplishments in the industry Dave has received nearly 30 ECMA and Music Nova Scotia nominations over the course of his career. He has six ECMA trophies, seven Nova Scotia Music awards and most recently he added two Canadian Folk Music Awards to his shelf.

“These artists are our best ambassadors, they introduce people to our region through their stories, songs and character. They make us proud and they make others want to be here,” says Munroe. For this reason the event will not only be an evening of musical performances, but will also include some of the highlights from the careers of these artists and the back stories not everyone knows.

Tickets are $30 each plus applicable fees and are on sale in time for Christmas. Tickets are also on sale now for next summer’s Jubilee, making a great stocking stuffer for the music fan on anyone’s Christmas shopping list. Super Advance Weekend Passes are being offered at an amazingly low price of $50 plus applicable fees (almost 50% off the price of a regular weekend pass).
