Blue Rodeo, Sloan and The Trews to headline the 15th annual New Glasgow Riverfront Music Jubilee, July 30 to Aug. 1
(New Glasgow, NS) – Celebrating its 15th year, the New Glasgow Riverfront Music Jubilee will host multi-award-winning Blue Rodeo, Sloan, The Trews and other great local and national performers in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia from Friday, July 30 to Sunday August 1. The festival mainstage line up for the award-winning, three-day, community festival (in the order they appear each night) is as follows: Friday, July 30: Doris Mason’s Celtic/Blues Jam, Carson Downey Band, Haywire, Alert the Medic, The Trews and Granfalloon Reunion Saturday, July 31: Molly Thomason, Beyond Ash, Fleur Mainville and the Bedlam Boys, The Stanfields, Matthew Barber, Sloan and Grooveback Sunday, August 1: Mary Stewart, Thom Swift & the El Caminos, JP Cormier & the Elliott Brothers,Dave Gunning and Blue Rodeo.
“The Jubilee is extremely proud to present Canadian roots-rock icons Blue Rodeo“, said Carlton Munroe, the festival’s Executive Director. “To have one of Canada’s most beloved bands ever make the Jubilee their only Nova Scotia stop this summer has us beyond excited. On top of that, to have Sloan and The Trews, two of the Jubilee’s most popular headliners over the past 15 years, return to our stage and Haywire, one of the most successful east coast bands ever, reuniting to play the festival should be a real treat for all those 80's kids who followed the group during their incredible run. It will be a weekend not to miss.”
Tickets for the mainstage are on sale now at all Ticketpro locations, by phone at 1-888-311-9090 and online http://www.ticketpro.ca/ Also, beginning Monday, June 21, tickets will be available at select Sobeys locations in Nova Scotia, including Port Hawkesbury, Antigonish, Pictou County, Truro, Elmsdale, and the Windsor Street and Queen Street locations in Halifax. Advance tickets for Friday and Saturday nights are $20 each and tickets for Sunday night are $30 each. All prices include tax and surcharges apply. For a limited time only (until Wednesday, June 30) early bird weekend passes are available for $50 each. Following June 30, they will be $60 each. Tickets at the door are $25 each on Friday and Saturday and $35 each on Sunday night.
The New Glasgow Music Jubilee is an all-ages event. Children 12 and under are FREE and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. A licensed area is available for those 19 and over (ID’s are required). Gates open at 6 pm each night. A fireworks display will take place on Friday evening at approximately 10:30 p.m. (rain date is Saturday).
The New Glasgow Riverfront Music Jubilee also offers two fun-filled afternoons (Saturday & Sunday) at Carmichael Park overlooking the East River. There is FREE entertainment for the whole family. A Children’s Jubilee, presented by Scotsburn Dairy, will take place on Saturday afternoon from 12noon to 4pm, offering inflatable bouncers, games, face painting and live entertainment for children. On Sunday, the Jubilee Youth Stage will feature some of Pictou County’s young musical talent live at the park Gazebo from 1-3pm. Several of the teen performers will team up with some seasoned entertainers for aSongwriters’ Circle. From 3:30-6:30pm, the Pictou County Blues Society, an organization bringing blues to the area, will present an afternoon of “Blues in the Park.” Featured performers include Wildcat Blues Bandand the McCready Brothers. “The Jubilee continues to be one of the most diverse, entertaining and affordable music events in the region”, added Munroe.
